BEHAVIOR 101- STAFF & PRIMARY CARE TRAINING

Services will focus on working with parents, primary care givers, or staff in order to help generalize skills or behavior intervention strategies across all environments.

  • This includes additional review of developmental or behavioral assessments.
  • This includes providing training on basic ABA or Trauma-based principals to provide instruction on how best to teach essential developmental skills.
  • This includes providing training on basic ABA and Trauma-based behavioral strategies to encourage positive behavioral change across all environments. The primary focus in this area is to support being responsive & proactive rather than reactive to behavior. 
  • Services can be used for workshops or Professional Development needs. 

Professional Development (see attached sample workshop outline)

Services focus on increasing staff skills and knowledge within the scope of their practice. PD’s can be created to suit the individualized needs of agencies and the population of whom they support, and may include the following content areas: 

  • Trauma Informed Behavioral practices (Toxic Stress, CBT, DBT, ABA)
  • Applied Behavior Analysis practices
  • Autism Specific practices
  • Agency Wide Positive Behavioral Supports
  • Sexuality and Relationship practices 
  • The Importance of Positive Reinforcement vs. Punishment or Coercion
  • The Do’s and Don’ts of Effective Communication
  • Supporting a Positive Work Environment

SEXUALITY AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES: A WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS AND GUARDIANS

Talking with our young and grown children about sexuality can be a difficult task. As parents and guardians, we often worry whether talking about if gives permission and whether they can be safe from harm when they are in relationships. This workshop will help you become more comfortable discussing this topic by covering what topics to cover when and the most effective ways to talk about this sensitive topic.



Goals:

  1.  Examine barriers to talking about sexuality.
  2. Gain knowledge about sexuality  and developmental disabilities.
  3. Acquire and practice skills in communicating about sexuality with our young and grown children.
